The template structures available using the Storage Structures form consist of three types of storage structures: Water Tower Type 1, Water Tower Type 2 or Circular Silo.
Choose the type of storage structures by clicking on it in the Storage Structure Type drop-down list in the upper left corner of the form. A drawing of the selected staircase type will be shown in the small display box.
Water Tower Type 1 and Water Tower Type 2Water Tower Type 1 and Water Tower Type 2.
These template structures are essentially the same, except Water Tower Type 2 is defined with a wide base.

Dimensions
Num of Divisions, Angular edit box. Specify the number of angular divisions comprising the tower.
Max Spacing, Surface Z edit box. Specify the maximum spacing for the divisions in the Z direction. The smaller the number, the more divisions and more complex the structure.
Elevation/Diameter spreadsheet area. The cells in this spreadsheet specify the elevations and diameters that define the shape of the tower.
Locate Origin button. Click this button to display the Coord System Location and Orientation form. Use the form to specify the location of the origin for the model.
Section Properties
Areas drop-down list. SAP2000 will suggest a section property for the areas in this drop-down list. The section property will apply to all of the areas.
TIP: Click the + (plus) symbol next to the drop-down list to access the Area Sections form; use that form to add, modify or delete an area section definition. The Assign menu > Areas > Area Sections command can be used to change the section property later, if needed.
Restraints check box. When this check box is checked, SAP2000 will assign default restraints to each point at the base of the model.
Gridlines check box. When this check box is checked, the model will display with grid lines when the OK button is clicked. Uncheck this check box to turn off the grid lines. The View menu > Show Grids command also can be used to turn the grid lines on or off after the model has been initiated.

Circular Silo Dimensions
