Form: Area Wind Pressure Coefficients
Use the Assign menu > Area Loads > Wind Pressure Coefficients command to access the Area Wind Pressure Coefficients form and assign Cp’s to the selected area objects
Specify a load pattern with a WIND type load and select the Exposure from Frame and Area Objects option on the {Code} Wind Load Pattern form.
Select the area object(s) to which the wind pressure coefficient is to be applied.
Click the Assign menu > Area Loads > Wind Pressure Coefficients command to access the Area Wind Pressure Coefficients form.
Load Pattern drop-down list. Select the wind load pattern to which the load is being added.
Pressure Type specifies how the pressure varies over the height of the structure.
Windward: Pressure varies over the height of the structure.
Other: Pressure is constant over the height of the structure.
Pressure Coefficient edit box. Specify the Cp value.
Load Distribution specifies how the pressure applied to the area is distributed to the surrounding joints and / or frames.
To Joints: the pressure is distributed to the area’s joints.
To Frames – One-Way: the pressure is distributed to the surrounding frames using a one-way distribution that follows that area’s local 1-axis.
To Frames – Two-Way: the pressure is distributed to the surrounding frames using a two-way distribution.
Option. Specify how the load is to be applied.
Replace Existing Loads: Replaces the currently specified wind load, if any, with the new wind load. If no assignment exists, the new assignment is still made. This is the default option.
Delete Existing Loads: Deletes any and all wind load assignments made to the selected area object(s). When this option is selected, the items in the Pressure Coefficient area of the form are ignored when the OK button is clicked.
The window will refresh with a graphical representation of the pressure coefficients assigned to the areas. If necessary, use the Assign menu > Clear Assigns command to remove the display of the assigned load.
