Form: Reverse Area Local 3 Axis
The orientation of the area local 3 axis (which is perpendicular to the plane of the area) is very important. The pressure load and other assignments are all made in conjunction with the local 3 axis. The local 3 axis for area objects is assigned automatically by the program according to the node numbering and at times may not be as desired. Make sure that the area local 3 axis is in the desired direction, otherwise all assignments will be reversed on the area object.
View the local axes of area objects as follows:
Select the area objects.
Click the Assign menu > Area > Local Axes command
Click OK on the Area Local Axis form to view the current orientation of the axes.
Reverse the orientation of the Local 3 axis as follows:
Select the area objects for which the local 3 axis is being reversed.
Click the Assign menu > Area > Reverse Local 3 command to display the Reverse Area Local 3 Axis form.
Choose the appropriate option:
Keep Assigns in Same Global Orientation option. The direction and orientation of the assignments will not change.
Keep Assigns in Same Local Orientation option. The direction and orientation of the assignments will rotate with the local axes.
